Many Sabrent SSDs (if not all) sport the Phison SSD Controller.
Since Sabrent doesn't provide any NVMe driver for its users, I tried installing the Phison NVMe driver and there is a very nice boost in performance

1) Download Phison NVMe driver v1.5.0.0
2) Make sure to right-click on the file you just downloaded, go to Properties, then hit Unblock from the bottom right as it may be blocked since it was downloaded from the internet, if you don't do this before you extract it, then it may not install correctly due to insufficient privileges.
To prevent this automatic blocking of files in the future so you don't have to go unblocking every file you download to ensure it runs properly, check the guide in this thread:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/are-you-sure-you-want-to-run-this-file-yes-or-no.825668/
3) Go to Device manager > Storage controllers then right-click on the NVMe Controller Driver, select Update driver, and point it to where you extracted the Phison Driver.
4) Reboot when prompted.

Note: Please create a system restore point before you install the drivers just in case.

Nice boost in those numbers. Did you do any power (efficiency) testing also?

I got an amazing boost with this over the Windows 7 generic NVMe driver on my original Sabrent Rocket.
I forgot to take screenshots comparing against the Windows 10 generic NVMe driver, but it did still increase my sequentials a little.
Edit: Never mind, this driver causes BSOD coming out of sleep. Rolling back to Windows generic NVMe driver.Last edited: May 16, 2021Spartan@HIDevolution and tilleroftheearth like this. -

a) latest original NVMe drivers for Samsung's NVMe SSDs:
- "pure" NVMe drivers:
- a) for Win7 (32/64bit):
- c) for Win10 (32/64bit):
- >"pure" 32bit Samsung NVMe Driver v3.3.0.2003 WHQL for Win10 x86< (>MIRROR<)
- >"pure" 64bit Samsung NVMe Driver v3.3.0.2003 WHQL for Win10 x64< (>MIRROR<)
These Samsung NVMe drivers are dated 01/21/2020, WHQL certified by Microsoft and a very good choice for all Samsung 95x/96x/97x Series NVMe SSDs. Natively supported are the Samsung NVMe Controllers with the DeviceIDs DEV_A802, DEV_A804 and DEV_A808, which are within Samsung's most popular consumer NVMe SSDs.
Tip for users with a non-Samsung NVMe SSD:- According to my own experiences the original 32/64bit Samsung NVMe drivers for Win10 are a very good and extremely performant alternative to the generic MS in-box NVMe driver.
The driver update for the NVMe Controller has to be forced by hitting the "Have Disk" button. The popup warning regarding the missing compatibility usually can be disregarded. Nevertheless I strongly recommend to set a "Restore Point" before doing it.
Update: Maybe an even better alternative for users with a non-Samsung NVMe SSD is the usage of one of the below offered mod+signed generic Samsung NVMe drivers.
- Complete Installer Set:
- >Samsung NVMe Driver Installer Set v3.3.0.2003 for Win7-10< (>MIRROR<)
This Installer Set is dated 01/21/2020.
- >Samsung NVMe Driver Installer Set v3.3.0.2003 for Win7-10< (>MIRROR<)

I have a Rocket 4 Plus in my MSI stealth 15m running PCIE 4.0
I benchmarked the drive a lot when I got it (virtually empty)
I updated the driver and ran CD Mark (drive is now more than 50% full) and the results were very noticeable although I can't figure out why the sequential speed is off vs the other driver. Other metrics are greatly improved

Sabrent Releases Firmware Update for Rocket 4 Plus, Fixes Performance Issues techpowerup.com | Today, 08:58
Sabrent today released a firmware update for its Rocket 4 Plus M.2 NVMe SSD. The new version 1.2 firmware addresses several caching and performance issues with initial batches of the drive that shipped with the version 1.1 firmware. The latest batches should come with version 1.2 firmware pre-installed. The update is released as a click-to-run drive firmware updater that works from Windows. The company recommends those with version 1.1 firmware to update their drives. Usual precautions, such as a data backup, as well as power backup during the firmware update, are recommended.

Absolutely because there wasn't a large increase in the sequential transfers at all even with a drive that isn't nearly empty like before
You have some results for a Phison PCIE-4.0 Drive you would like to share with us?Last edited by a moderator: Jun 25, 2021 -
Just installed the driver for my T-Force Z340 which using the same Phison Controller, finally hitting advertised speed but the drive now showing as a removeable disk (external drive), any ideas?

I forgot about this. But when I go to device manager I don't have an NVMe controller. Is this due to me being RADI0?
