I have an Toshiba A65 and the pin broke off in the powercord. Any suggestions on how to get the pin out, or do I need to purchase a new cord?
-
What pin? You mean the metallic part that stays in the laptop ac port?
-
yes, that is it. I am in the process of replacing the jack as we speak.
-
Well, to remove the jack, you will need to get access to the motherboard. You must also know how to use a soldering iron, so that you can remove the jack from the mainboard.
Do you have a replacement?, because you will need a replacement jack with identical power pinouts to the one your system currently uses.

thanks ktron, i have the jack and I know how to replace the jacks, i just wanted to know if I could save 30 bux and not have to buy a new pwoercord if possible

Pliers? Small drill? Or just replace the connector?
-
is there somewhere i could just buy the connector piece? like the piece from the transformer to the pc.

can you take a picture of the piece you need to replace.
Their is a great online electronics warehouse, mouser electronics.
They have every electrical component ever made. I think there are over 12,000 different jacks and plugs to choose from.
Post a picture of the part, and post if there is any lettering /numbering on the part, this is most likely the parts manufacturing number/size, etc.
The part will cost less than $5, so its not much money. The hardest part is finding the exact same jack/plug
