That would be cool, but NVidia's been caught with the 300 series on their driver pages for a while now, with no product to show for it. I do hope they come out soon though, I'm always interested to look at new platforms.

From what I can see, battery life won't be much better. Pine Trail brings power consumption down to Menlow-level, which are Atom Z series combined with US15W chipset. Few reviews out there show maybe 30-45 min improvement over the Diamondville based systems(N270), for Menlow.

The graphics should be up to 2x faster, owing to the improvement on the memory subsystem as a major factor, and the CPU should gain as well. Honestly if it does less than 20% performance improvement in non-GPU related apps in average I'll be disappointed.

So far the only dual core is the D510 which runs at 1.66GHz. No telling whether or not it is a true dual core or is like the N300 (2 single core N230's stuck together).

I know I asked this before, but how much of an improvement is the gpu vs the GMA950/500 and X3100? Or is this just a X3100 with a different clock?

    1280x720 screens?
Can we please go any lower. xD

The 1366x768 was the sweet spot for 11-12" screens. :(

The GMA 3150 is an extension of the GMA 950 based architecture. If you heard of the GMA 3100, this is basically what it is. The major factor in performance is the integrated memory controller. If they integrated X3100 instead, they would have had to increase die size significantly.

I've already seen the preliminary benchmarks. 3DMark puts it up to 2x better than Atom N270 generation.

11.6" 1366x768 screen with Atom. Apparently this has Z series Atom (says GMA 500 graphics)?

    HP Mini 210 is Pinetrail
Also, Pinetrail is getting DDR3 support later in 2010 after it launches, and the 1.86GHz N470 production starts in January:

So the GMA 3150 would not support HD video decode? Like the GMA 950? (And conversely, unlike the GMA500 in Menlow).

Can you also confirm whether the GMA 3150 would be able to support Direct2D GPU-accelerated rendering of webpages? This is a feature of IE9/Firefox 3.7, but I am under the impression that Direct2D requires DirectX10-capable graphics.

The GMA 3150 won't play HD good, but that is why Intel is pairing Pinetrail with Broadcom's HD Decoder. As long as you have that, you will have no problems playing HD since in both movies and flash video (the decoder supports accelerated Flash 10.1).

And according to mydellmini forums, the GMA 3150 won't support Direct2D GPU accelerated browsing

I dunno why they didn't just include a slightly under clocked version of the 4500hd.

The 320MHz version of the 4500MHD in the GS45 chipset has 8W TDP. Pinetrail's GMCH should end up to be around 4W. They lowered it by 33% lowering the GPU clock from 533MHz to 320MHz and FSB by 1066MHz to 800MHz. To lower TDP by another 50%, it would need to be really slow. Besides, die size is much larger on the 4500MHD.

Pine Trail is a very low cost value platform.

Pinetrail! News is already leaking sine 12am since Intel put an embargo on Pinetrail news from last weeks new platform previews. The embargo is officially expired.

I like the sound of true dual core Atoms.

Ideally I'd like a powerful desktop at home, and for travel I'd like an 11.6" or so netbook-tablet with a dual core Atom and at least a 4500m HD or something of that nature.

Well Atom wont have the 4500hd, but a CULV model will. Atom has the crappier 3150.

Not sure what the difference is better the U100 and the U123. But that all seems logical.
