I have a budget of $1300 and am thinking about buying a DIY Laptop. However I don't know where to buy the parts. I remember a few years ago reading about a few places where you could buy them last time I was looking at a new laptop but I don't remember them. (I ended up buying a Dell and it has worked fine, just need an upgrade)

I have built hundreds of desktop pc's but never attempted a laptop.

Where should I go to buy parts?

i know many of the Sager/Clevo resellers (Mythlogic, XoticPC, LPC-Digital, MALIBAL, etc) offer barebone laptops. you get the shell and the main board (plus whatever else you want to add..) then you can aquire/assemble everything your self.

some of them may sell bare MSI and ASUS ones as well, but i'm not sure.. Xotic PC would be the one to talk about for these..

^^ Thanks for the tips on RJTech & AVADirect. I didn't know there were still Mom & Pop custom/stock builders out there anymore. Will definitely put these guys on my list for next go around...
