    Hello there.

I recently bought the "Lenovo Thinkpad L430 2464A26", which has the specifications as specified on this website:
    ThinkPad L430 2464A26 / 2464-A26

Due to lack of research on my behalf, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to replace the matte screen with a glossy screen. Doing that, I forgot to take off the battery, which resulted in no light in the screen, when I afterwards turned on the laptop. The inverter on the screen has been excluded as the problem, by a PC service company I ended up delivering it to, and by the fact that both the new and old screen has no light in them. The cable has also been replaced. The PC service company then said there's not more they can do.

The external output to a monitor works fine. I then came to the conclusion (as of lack of better ideas) that it must/could be the motherboard/planar that has been damaged. I found a list of official planars from lenovo:
    http://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/L430_FRU_List.pdf

    The reseller (IBM) sells these:
IBM Danmark | Reservedele | Service parts

But the price is $350 and up. Considering the laptop originally had a cost of $870, I'm not sure it's work the risk.

Do you know if such motherboards are sold through other vendors?

    The planars listed are:
    04W3562
    N
    FRU PLN Int 14D w/WW TPM=Y
    04W3563
    N
    FRU PLN Int 14D w/WW TPM=N
    04W3564
    N
    FRU PLN Int 14D w/oWW TPM=Y
    04W3565
    N
    FRU PLN Int 14D w/oWW TPM=N
    04W3566
    N
    FRU PLN SW1 14D w/oWW TPM=Y
    04W3567
    N
    FRU PLN SW1 14D w/oWW TPM=N

Of course if you have some great tip on something that I have missed, I would also be very grateful. I understand that breaking the laptop was entirely my fault and thus the warranty won't cover it.

    Thank you!

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread - but the procedure above (exchanging the LCD panel with the battery or power supply attached) usually blows the fuse for the backlight only. In older Thinkpads it was often called F2, size 0603, 3A. YMMV with the L430, unfortunately the schematics of it are not available. If you are willing to sell the broken planar, please drop me an email. I wonder if keyboards with backlight may be used in this model.
