Hi I have a VAIO VGN FS-415E. At the moment I have an 80GB Toshiba MK8025GAS HDD (grabbed model from device manager). I am looking to upgrade to a 250GB WD Scorpio WD2500BEVE [ this to be exact].

Could someone verify the new drive is 100% compatible, and I will be able to replace it. The warranty is out so no need to worry about that.

Its urgent as the site I'm buying from has had the drive £17 dearer for the last few weeks and I'd like to buy it today at the lower price.

    Thanks in advance :D

Just make sure the cable interface is the same. :)

    EDIT:

Just checked out the two HDD's. Both are ATA interfaces. You will be fine gettin the WD Scorpio. Go ahead and pick it up.

Just google both the HDD's if you dont believe me. Both are ATA interfaced :)

    I imagine they will work.
However I don't mean to scare you but once I took a 40GB(dont know what manufacture) notebook hard drive from and HP zv5000 and put it into an acer aspire3000. As a result the acer wouldn't even display the bios. I had to put in its original hard drive.
Still don't know what was wrong either.

Just thought I'd tell you. You may want to call a local computer store and ask them.

    Good Luck ;)

The 250gb 5400rpm drive will work in your laptop. You will have no issues with the new harddrive.
Good luck with the purchase, hopefully you can get it while its still on sale.

If you run into any issues like the HD not getting detected, just update your bios.

If your in the states it would be www.sony.com/support , from there you would go find your model number.

If your in a different country you would just need to find your countries sony website and just go through the same procedure.
