Of course the warranty for this baby ran out last month... so it was the perfect time for my laptop to decide that it was going to screw me.
The pin from the inside of the ac adapter plug broke off inside the plug. Now it won't charge. I ordered a new plug but what now? Do I have to replace the plug too? They look to be about 45 bucks (ripoff!)...
Is there a trick to get the pin out of there? Please help - Thanks!![]()

Magnet?

Are you talking about the power jack to your notebook? If so then you would need to solder the new power jack onto the board.

Kinda nervous to put a magnet that close to my comp and hard drive... I thought about it though just not sure if it would have enough pull to suck it out.
Yes I think I'm stuck ordering a new jack for 30 bucks... which is annoying because it's not really broken it just has a tiny piece of metal stuck in it. -

Unsolder the jack and then use a magnet away from the notebook.

Nothing like panicking for no good reason...
Download a service manual for your laptop. Look at the disassembly images and parts list. I will bet that you will find internal power lead mentiond in post #6 in this thread. If necessary, order that and a new power adapter via ebay.
Spend around $30-, invest a few hours of time, and the fix is in.

A magnet probably wouldnt work since the plug is most likely not iron or anything magnetic. What you can try is get some super glue and a stick or something and glue the stick to the broken part of the plug and try to pull it out when its dried.

If you have a STEADY hand take an unfolded paperclip with a TINY amount of cyanoacrylate (superglue) on the tip. Get both the paperclip and adapter tip to stick together and pull them both out... Had a similar situation where my daughter got a stick of colored pencil lead stuck in the ac adapter acceptor in my laptop and this worked for me
