    Core 2 Duo is better.

I think that it depends on the price as well; if the C2D laptop is more expensive, go for the Core Duo. If not, go for the C2D.

Go with the Core Duo. By the way, it is "duo" not "due", just for future reference.

I think the 1.73 Core 2 Duo has 2MB of L2 Cache while the 2.0Ghz Core Duo has 4MB of L2 Cache. So in this case, the Core Duo is better.

lol @BC135 - I posted like a few seconds after you.

Most people are leaving this out but I'm not sure why. I think the Core 2 Duo only has 2MB of cache, and 4MB will help you a lot more with programs (trust me, I have a E4400 (2.2 2MB L2 Cache) on my desktop, and a 2.33 Core Duo 4MB L2 Cache on my laptop.

the core duo has 2mb of cach and the core2due has 2mb of cach too
and the core2due is more expensive just in 50 $

My bad!!! I though that the 2.33 has 4MB of L2 Cache. SORRY EVERYONE!

Hmm. I would still go with the Core Duo though.

Not much better; roughly a 15% increase in performance can be expected at most, with the same heat output and power consumption. Really I believe that this boost isn't a winner if the consumer has to pay extra for the Merom. Can you tell us about the pricing?
