    Hi ,

Today I decided to go deeper and take apart a dim lcd .

I suspect a bad CCFL since the screen went dark after a reported
impact to the side and since otherwise the laptop works fine with external monitor .

So does the black edge indicates a bad CCFL ?

    Thanks ,
    Gilo

It doesn't have to have black edges for it to be broken. It probably is broken according to what you described. Do you still have warranty on that?

No warranty , I plan to replace it myself but it is harder then I thought and I didn't think it will be easy .

    Any tips ?

I think he means he dropped it.
Anywho, those black marks don't necessarily mean it's broken. But I think it certainly is based on what you've said!

Test the backlight by installing it temporarily on the inverter board and then power the pc, if it doen't work or lighted up checked your inverter board maybe your inverter board are the broken one.

It means it looks like the laptop got hit on the side , some impact/scratch marks at the back right corner side only .

I'm not sure if it was dropped , I just bought it as-is because I was interested in this model .
