I have been using Toshiba Satellite L25-S119 OS XP since 2006.

I use it to surf and do word processing.

    I have 2 GB RAM.

It get very hot someone suggested that I should replace the heat sink.

If I can get more mileage from it and without breaking the bank what can I do to bring it line with some inexpensive cheaper new noteboooks, such as replacing the cpu/hdd etc.

I have never opened a notebook except to add RAM - are there any pitfalls that I should know.

    Thank you all.

PS if this is the wrong area - plz. guide me to the new area as I am new and did not know where to post thank you

    1. You can undervolt your CPU with the undervolting guide to lower its temps ... Link here

    2. You can buy a notebook cooling pad to cool it.

    3. You can also upgrade the hard drive which is most likely PATA but u have really limited options... I think RAM is at max. IMO , ur better off saving the money on the upgrades and get a new laptop... even a $400 one would own ur laptop.

You can clean your heatsink fan with a compressed air and see it solves the heat problem. If you provide more information about your HDD and the chipset in your laptop post them in Toshiba section of this forum someone will help you.
