    Hi,

    I own a HP Pavilion DV5-1034tx
    Specs:
    Model : HP dv5-1034TX
Screen: 15.4 " Diagonal WXGA High-Definition BrightView widescreen Display
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P7350(2.0Ghz)
Graphics : GeForce 9600M GT with 512MB Dedicated graphics memory
    Ram : DDR2 4GB 800mhz
    Hdd : 250GB

Can I upgrade my CPU to this?

    Intel E8135
    Intel Core 2 Duo E8135 processor - FF80576GH0676M / AW80576GH0676M / AW80576GH0676ML

I have read through the HP DV5 service and maintenance manual, and it is not listed under the list of "supported" CPUs (The best is T9600). I am also aware that HP has a whitelist of hardware that will work with their Insyde BIOS.

Still though, anybody has had any luck or experience with upgrading their CPU in spite of this ?

Just so you aware, that CPU is a very leaky sample bought on the cheap by apple for slimline desktop machines, it will run very hot.

You're probably better off upgrading the hard drive. A SSD if you don't need much space or the Seagate Momentus XT are worth a look.

The dual-IDA DV5-1xxx bios here will get you an extra half multiplier (133Mhz).

DV5 units tend to run hot. If can cool it down with a laptop cooler or improving heat dissipation then suggest grabbing a X9100 with unlocked multipliers. They can run at over 4Ghz when configured with Throttlestop.
