I would like to know what to do. I have a Dell 700m, just out of warranty period. The LCD's backlight does not work but the LCD is displaying the desktop it is faint but I can see it. Should I buy an inverter or buy a new LCD screen as a whole? Thanks for any replies.

More than likely it's the inverter. If you can get a replacement at a reasonable cost and you are comfortable in doing the replacement then go ahead.

I think 40 dollars is reasonable, and frankly im sitting here with the front bezel off and looking straight at the old inverter :). Thanks for the suggestion.
