Is there anyway to connect a normal dvd burner to a laptop without putting it into an enclosure? I have a dvd burner and simply want to use it with my laptop. I have seen USB to IDE/SATA adapter/cables on eBay, but am unsure if those will actually work. Anyone have suggestions? Links? $10-$15 preferably

If you have a IDE DVD burner, those should work. Why do you want to attach a DVD burner in the first place? If you're trying to boot off of it, make sure your comp supports USB booting

I need a dual layer burner, and my laptop doesn't have one. It seems cheaper to buy a normal dvd burner and just attach it to my laptop.
