I have a Vostro 1500 with crappy speakers that fuzz out just before they become loud enough to watch a DVD. Is it possible to replace them?

If you can find another set of speakers, Dell's service manual for the Vostro 1500 gives relatively detailed instructions as to how to replace them.

couldn't it be the sound card itself? i got myself an audigy 2 zs for my notebook and it did wonders in terms of clarity and got rid of all the static noise.

Thanks I didn't even think to check the manuals. I don't think it's the sound card as the sound is very clear at low volumes I imagine it's still possible that the sou ndcard could cause this but it seems unlikely.

My friend has a Dell D630 and if he hooks them up to some Altec Lansing VS4121BLK external speakers, it sounds fuzzy. Also his internal speaker broke within a month. My brother has a Hp dv2xxx and they sound fuzzy too but not as much as the D630. When I hook my Toshiba up, it probably sounds twice as good as the Hp, and maybe three times as the Dell.

Uhh, I checked the manual, nothing on replacing speakers.
