I think I broke my touchpad in my P300, none of the clicks work and neither does the touchpad, not really sure what is wrong... :/ have opened my p300 a lot and all the connections seemed fine...Does not show up in device manager...

If there aren't any loose cables, you could try replacing the palm rest which should have the touchpad included.

    Yes, you can replace it.

but as said above, the touchpad is part of the entire Palmrest. So you will have to buy that. Check ebay. :)

The only problem is that eBay only sells (as far as I have seen in the last 6+ months) LG P300 batteries and LCD's. :/ And what else is strange is neither the left or right click work but it doesn't seem like they are directly part of the touchpad (their are buttons underneath attached to the motherboard)

Not the same machine, but I have a Thinkpad which had a very minor problem with the left button, when I called I was told to buy and replace the entire palm rest, which I did (very easily). It makes the machine look so new (I also had a new keyboard) :)

Sadly , they never sold the P300 in the US, it is "old" now so I don't even know where to begin looking for parts...

No, I mean are you sure the buttons are on the motherboard and not part of the palm rest? That sounds odd and your post made it sound like you thought that but weren't sure.

Uhh, well, I don't want to sound rude or anything, but are you sure they don't work? Checked device manager etc? Because there are several laptops with Fn keys (or sometimes buttons themselves) to disable the touchpad and left and right clicks..just a possibility. :D

But back to what the people above me suggested, the left and right mouse buttons are commonly already attached to the palmrest, but in some cases it's part of the upper laptop cover itself (like mine). Also, try reinstalling touchpad drivers--sometimes driver failures on touchpads could make it seem to be a hardware failure.

I think I mentioned it before, it does not show up in device manager, and I also have tried re-installing the drivers... still nothin

EDIT: have also tried fn+enable/disable touchpad

:D sorry for being the cross-eyed kid that I am lol.

Well, if you have another way to diagnose if the touchpad is really busted, then the only way is maybe to really trade it in.

Do you mean trade it in , like sell it for what I can and get a different laptop? Sadly the P300 has too much value for me compared to what I could get with the money selling it, it would not sell for much and I am spoiled having a 13" laptop that weighs 3.5 lbs and can play crysis on high plus 4 hour battery life.. :/ I think I'll just have to wait for awhile, hopefully we will see some i7's in smaller notebooks soon
