I have a acer aspire 5551 series(5551-2036).I'm no pro on this. But here is the really only 3 differences the N8&930 have besides extra cores.
1.They both are 35W,mine is 25W
2.Both have 200MHz higher bus
3.The phenoms handles up to DDR3-1333,mine DDR3-1066
More specs for you all to check.
AMD Athlon II P320 processor - AMP320SGR22GM
AMD Phenom II N830 processor - HMN830DCR32GM
AMD Phenom II N930 processor - HMN930DCR42GM
They all run on same socket & same chipset(AMD M880G),the 2 most important factors.I checked out other laptops running the N930.They run same V & batt as mine but use a 90W PSU,same 19volts though.Mine is 65W.
So if I get a universal PSU like a cooler master NA120(120W/4.74A 19V),Would I be set?
Cooler Master NA RP120-S19AJ1-US AC Adapter
Or do I need a 90W DC in jack too?
Acer Aspire 5251 5551 5551G 90W DC IN Jack W/ Cable 50.R5202.001
I don't mind spending some $.Never going to sell this laptop.I can get the phenoms very cheap($20-$50).I don't mind buying a new PSU,never hurts to have an extra.Especially a universal one. This laptop stays in my room, never mobile pretty much.I made a custom cooler for this laptop. It runs alot cooler then normal, especially when maxed(won't get above 40*C

Anyone
!I seen a phenom ii p 920 new for $20 shipped.Is this the best I can do?They are all 400MHz higher bus,not 200.My bad.The extra 400mhz bus really shouldn't be a issue imho.Would appreciate a reply.
Here is a aspire that has same gpu as mine but with a N970

That 25W P920 looks very interesting indeed, albeit at a lower clock speed and high system bus. However the X940 is a 45W chip and its "Black Edition" look appealing and with the higher rated power supply you shouldn't have issues coming from that end. So does this mean its fully unlocked like most desktop Black Edition chips? I'd be more worried about the capacity of the cooling system considering that added heat if your motherboard and chipset can handle it.

As long as you have the S1g4 socket, you might be able to pull it off. But the deciding factor could be the system BIOS.
Socket S1 (S1g4)
Possible upgrade:Athlon P320 DC to AMD Phenom N830 TC or N930 QC
