As the title says, could someone point out what, if any, would the possible upgrades be to a Intel Celeron M 380 @1.6GHz.

    Thanks.

If your motherboard can support a 533mhz bus and has an PPGA478 socket , consider a coreduo T2050 , I upgraded a celeron m420 to a T2050 , but you bios needs to be able to support it as well.

I got my T2050 from ebay , very cheap.

I don't actually have the laptop yet, it's a prospective purchase for a mod. Sadly I think the laptop only has a 400MHz FSB.

well, you have upgrades but they are limited. The chip you have is a Dothan based Celeron with a 400mhz FSB (I have the 370 @1.5Ghz). the only upgrades you can consider are Dothan based Pentium M's, and faster clocked Celeron processors.

DO NOT buy a Dual core it WILL NOT work.

The laptop is an Acer 3630, from another website:

I'm aware they're limited, I've been in a similar situation before, similarly I know dual cores are out of the question.

    Thanks.

Ewww... SiS. That stuff pretty much ain't documented at all... To be safe, I'd say you stick with a 400MHz FSB Pentium M, Banias or Dothan. The fastest thing in that range is the 1.8GHz Pentium M 745. You could try the 533MHz Dothans too, but I'd say they probably have less of a chance of working...

Brain fart; I forgot about the 755 and the 765. You can probably use the both of them, but I'd say they're more expensive than they're worth. A 755 or 765 can run up past $100...
