What's the screen? Might want to see if you can upgrade that if it's not already 1920x1080.

well, given that he has 8GB, there is a 50/50 chance he didn't get the BB model, and already has the 1080p display :p

But your question is valid, and I'm just posting to annoy people :(

It's a -A2 model which means it came with 2 500GB HDDs, the 1080p screen and a DVD burner. The best upgrade you could get is a SSD, then maybe a BD player and i7-920xm if you can find one that isn't too expensive and need some extra juice from the CPU.

SSD should be at the top of your list. Since you only have SATA 3Gb/s, i'd go for a 120/160GB Intel 320 drive. Why not get an enclosure for the spare HDD you'll have and use it for backups :D.

I'm sure the i7 720QM (1st gen) turbos to 2.9 GHz. The i7 920XM turbos to 3.2 GHz and 820QM turbos to 3.06 GHz if I recall correctly.

You could upgrade the CPU, SSD, wifi cards, maybe GPU

    720qm turbos at 1.73GHz on 3/4 cores, 2.4 on 2 and 2.8 on 1
820qm: can't remember, but it's not much different from the 720qm
    920xm: 2.2GHz 3/4cores, 3.06 on 1 core, can't remember 2 cores and i'm not on my G73 atm.

You can safely bring the 920xm to 2.5-2.7GHz on the G73 when playing games. 2.7Ghz gets a bit hot while running prime95 though.
