This is the diagnostics of my external seagate baracuda 3.5" 7200.10 250 gb HDD. I use this for backup. Is it bad?

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
SMART can be kind of a crapshot at times; I've had drives with perfect SMART records fail and drives with less than perfect SMART records running 24/7... I wouldn't worry too much over a single low value... if you've got like four or five faults, you might want to consider replacing or backing up the drive, but even HDTune says that the health status is fine for now.

The Error rates seem to be ridiculously high... I have never seen that before...
Back it up as soon as possible... -

Hi.
Have you tried running Seagate Diagnostics on it , if not click below.

you should probably worry, spin retry count is not a good thing.
I can tell you from personal experience that I used to be a seagate fan. When the 7200.7 version drives came out they seemed golden. I picked one up, and sure thing it had spin retry count on first use. Well that drive lasted a good 25 hours before being rma'ed. Later on my younger brother bought some seagates. 7200.9 and 7200.10 drives. All of them also had the spin retry problem. Sure enough, all of those drives died in less than a month. Seagate rma'ed all of them, and the second set did the same for the 7200.10 drives. After the second batch, was the last time anyone in our family bought from seagate.
I quote from my book on PC hardware:
"Attribute Name:
Spin Retry Count
Attribute ID:
10
Description:
Count of retry of spin start attempts. This attribute stores a total count of the spin start attempts to reach the fully operational speed (under the condition that the first attempt was unsuccessful). A decrease of this attribute value is a sign of problems in the hard disk mechanical subsystem."
I personally think that this is happening because seagate tries to make power efficient drives, and that consequently robs power going to the motor, causing this problem to occur. The problem has only came up on seagate drives in my hardware years, and it has caused me not to buy from them again

I think i also got this error message on my old WD 80GB when it was new, but it went away in time. This drive has only been used for 12 hrs, so that may be the cause.
And does the fact that i store it vertically have anything to do with it?

Just as a sidenote, this is the diagnostic for the 100 GB 5400rpm seagate momentus in my laptop. It's almost 2 yrs old and has similar values, but nothing is highlighted. why? -
What I'd want to know is why it reads powerd on hours as 3446 yes has 10* the amount of power cycles. you don't restart your laptop every 6 mins of use do you
what ever it is not sure its reading the data properly -
-
I wonder if it's not related to the acoustic management of the drive...
-
Hmmm
Power On Time = 12 Hours
After 12 hours of usage and there is already a problem... I don't know man but I doesn't look right. -
But the reading from my laptop's HDD(also seagate) is virtually IDENTICAL but not highlighted
. Any ideas why?
And this drive is a year old, but since i only use it for backup it only has 12 hrs of use on it. -
bump...........
Potentially worrying SMART value
