    Power Options: Always on!

    so i changed my power options to alwayso no harddrive shutoff or standby mode is this safe to do or does it reduce lifetime of the laptop? since this is basically a desktop replacement i want most power mode anyone else use this option?

    That setting is fine. All it does it disables speedstep to your processor is at is max clock 100% of the time. While this isnt a problem plugged in, it will drain your battery very quickly. Also it will make your laptop run hotter as a result.

    you may want to buy a Notebok chillmat to keep the laptop cool.

    I have that setting right now because ive been downloading some big files...etc.

    yeah i usuall use my antec notebook cooler when using laptop for awhile :D

    I would leave your notebook on "Portable/Laptop" mode instead of "Always On" because as posted, when it you have it on Always On, the CPU runs at its maximum clock frequency, which causes more heat. In Portable/Laptop mode, the CPU downclocks to 1GHz and will instantly spool up any time it needs more power.

    but i use NHC and have it on dynamic switchign modde that should be good enough right? because it shows it using different speeds

    Thats more than good enough. That way you get power when you need it and when you dont it will throtle back. Its very enegry efficent.
