Power surge blew out the computer so it wont turn on. How would someone repair this? Besides buying a new mobo, looking for a technical response here. Thanks a bunch.

Typically a power surge should only damage your AC adapter (part of its design). Have you tried using a new AC adapter?

Edit: By the way it was a Universal Adapter. To who i blame for this happening. -
The only person you have to blame is yourself for not using a surge protector... warranty doesn't cover an 'act of god'
lightning, surges, earthquakes, tsunami's (lol), tornados etc. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
I mean unless you have a degree in electrical engineering and know how to solder/desolder stuff I would probably try to do basic troubleshooting or replace the board.
Removing the battery and AC adapter, hold down power button for 30 seconds 2-3 times. After that you probably got a power circuitry issue with the board. Some repair shops will have an exchange price for your part. They fix your laptop with a refurbished board and they take in your board for refurbishing. -
If your warranty is up just open the laptop up and take a good look yourself. Find anything black and well, you'll need to replace that, less getting yourself a new computer.
Seriously, people don't understand the role of surge protectors. I bought an extremely expensive surge protector for this sole reason and I always, always turn my stuff off from the wall when it's not being used. It's just laziness that gets people's stuff broken by surges... if you had a surge protector you could send it with your broken computer to your manufacturer and they would replace whatever is broken, if it's the whole computer then you'd get a new one... at least that's what my sister's boyfriend did, after I told him to get a protector...
I know some people who are so paranoid that they have everything running through 3 of them them including their phone line... -

I've only ever heard problems with ASUS computers... but that's just me. Maybe they need that, but it's definitely a good thing to have.
