Is there a big difference between the 2 processors in power consumption ?

What about the speed difference ?

Pentium dual cores are basically core 2 duo's with less cache. Cache does use a bit of power, but i do not think the difference is very much. The performance per clock is better with the core 2 duo's just because intel cpu's generally perform better with more cache.

The answer is going to vary depending on which specific processor models you're comparing...

The Pentium Dual-Core T4200 & Core 2 Duo T6400 and T6600 are superior to the Pentium Dual-Core T2xxx and T3x00 & Core 2 Duo T5xx0 models. They are faster and more energy efficient because they now use the newer Penryn 45nm architecture.

The Core 2 Duo P-series processors are the most efficient of all, though.

How do the Core 2 Duo T9xxx series stack up against the T5xxx? I have a T9500 on the way to replace my T5750. More specifically, the T9500 is 2.6GHz, 800MHz FSB, 6MB L2 cache, and the T5750 is 2.0GHz, 667MHz FSB, 2MB L2 cache.
