Hello. I was hoping someone could help me with this. When I'm home, my netbook is almost always plugged to a flatscreen and I use it with lid closed. I googled power consumption breakdown for notebooks and a source suggests LCD display uses on average 45% of total. Based on this, I should be getting close to 10 hours with LCD off but I get pretty much the same duration. Am I missing something here?

When you're at home and it's connected to an external monitor, don't you have more than one power socket? But, yeah battery life will be much better with the screen off.

Absolutely... What is the point of running the netbook off battery at home? Plug it into the AC and forget about the battery life.
