I'm replacing my original Fujitsu 80 GB hard drive of my 2005 Powerbook G4. They're offering me these brands: Seagate, Mitsubishi, Samsung, and Fujitsu. Which is better?

Also if I upgrade to a 160 GB will the computer run slowlier? Will the battery last less?

    Thanks a lot to everyone.

    Who's doing the offering?

Is this a SATA HD or are you still running IDE hardware on a G4?

I wouldn't consider any of those 'offered' I would stick with WD Scorpio's or, Hitachi TravelStar 7K500 series HD's.

Upgrading to a 160GB HD will probably make the computer quicker, not slower. Also, depending on how much newer the HD is compared to the one it's replacing, it may even be more power efficient than the drive it replaces. The Hitachi 7K500 7200 RPM drive, for example, the very latest mechanical tech available for notebook users, is more power efficient than most 5400 RPM HD's are.

So, tell us what connection (IDE or SATA) your HD is and I'm still curious who is offering those brands to you. ;)

    Cheers!

Hi, tilleroftheearth. It's a 80 GB Ultra ATA/100 at 5400-rpm hard drive. What do you recommend?

those brands are being offered by the repairguy of an Apple authorized service center in Mexico City.
