hello good day. i got a couple of older titanium powerbooks here and along with a few people in a discord been interested into trying to find out more modern/better screen upgrades for the titanium powerbook

i cracked the device open. and the display cable appears to have 20 wires.

the screen in specific is samsung ltn152w3-l01

searching for either the powerbook or the screens model number gives not much info.

since its powerpc running any of the windows utilities seems to be out of the question to find out more info of the screen.

if i check the pcb of the lcd. i do read some stuff like VCC_EDID so maybe that hints more.

i also have attached a picture of the cable

is there any screens that would offer a improvement over its current one?

also i just found out they had 2 resolutions for these models. used the same connector tho
1280x854 and 1152x768 i got the higher res one

before any of you all go "why would you upgrade that old thing" bla bla

in the retro community its often more fun to add uneconomic upgrades to certain machines than to just leave them

Finding it took about 2 seconds on google >> panelook which is the best source around for figuring these things out. https://www.panelook.com/LTN152W3-L01_Samsung_15.2_LCM_overview_8562.html

LTN would seem to indicate this is a TN panel and the comparable models seem to indicate it's an LVDS connector.

It's an odd size of 15.2" which only lists 22 models
    https://www.panelook.com/sizmodlist.php?sizes[]=1520

Of which none are better than what you already have from the looks of it.
    Well, maybe 1 https://www.panelook.com/LTN152W6-L01_Samsung_15.2_LCM_overview_8569.html

    1440×960, WXGA+

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-A-Sams...n-Panel-LTN152W6-L01-1440-x-960-/400508682612 Roughly $70 shipped

    https://www.impactcomputers.com/ltn152w6-l01.html - slightly cheaper but couldn't get a shipping quote / total

    interesting results.

1440x960 is the exact resolution in the last powerbook g4 high res..

i wonder if its the exact same panel aswel..

wil definitely give it a shot.. 1440x960 at 15 inches is not a bad resolution

thanks for the info wil update once i receive the screen incase anyone on google comes across this

Best of luck with it all! Should be a simple swap out though other than pulling things apart / putting it back together.

hm i've noticed a small problem i checked the images before buying the screen and noticed the screen input connector has way more than 20 pins (closer to either 30 or 40.. to blurry)

the ribbon on the laptop is 20 contacts so thats not going to work it seems

Keep in mind most places post stock images and not the actual device. Question the seller for an actual image to verify.
