Can a backlit keyboard just be put in, in place of a non-backlit and work properly, or does the MB or something else have to support it?

    Thanks,

I'm pretty sure the MBs are the same, but there is a small board attached to the keyboard IIRC and that may not be the same and I don't think it comes with the keyboard. I could be wrong though, been a while since I opened up my M6700.

M6600 should have the ZIF motherboard connection for a backlit keyboard.
