The price for an Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III on amazon is around $149.00-$154.99. Will the price for a 500 gb SSD drive be reduced $50-70? How reliable is the Samsung 850 EVO? Does anyone has this upgrade in their lenovo y50?

If you look through other forums and reddit, and you catch a post at the exact right time, you might be able to find a used one for $110-$120 or so. But don't hold your breath waiting for a new one to drop in price that much. Maybe around the holiday season a few retails will discount it, but probably not by the amount you're talking.

I don't have that laptop but have used the drive in various forms (2.5" and now in M.2) over the last year or so with no issues.

@i5evoSwift3814 one can get a new MLC 1TB SSD for slightly above $200. See no point chasing TLC drive half the size, at any price.
