I just swapped out the HDD with a Patriot SSD on a Gateway LT3103u Netbook.
Powered up and went into the BIOS to make sure it was recognized.
Changed the boot order to boot from the USB DVD Drive first.
Proceeded to install Windows 7 from DVD.
During the installation the SSD drive is not found.
Went back into the BIOS and the SSD is no longer listed.
Had to power cycle the Netbook in order for the SSD to be recognized again.
Repeated steps to install Windows 7 and the same thing keeps happening.

Hopefully someone can help me out here.
Has anyone seen a post with an SSD installed on a Gateway LT31 Series Netbook?

If I remember correctly, to install Windows 7 on my SSD I had to connect it as an external SATA drive using a SATA to USB enclosure. After I connected the drive to one of my netbooks USB ports I logged into the default HDD's OS which was XP Home and ran the Windows 7 DVD using an external DVD-ROM drive to install 7 onto my Vertex SSD. Before the installation process you would just choose the SSD to install to.

After that I just swapped the factory HDD with the SSD and boot up and placed the HDD in the external SATA to USB enclosure. So yea, an enclosure is a very good investment.

Which Patriot SSD are you using?

You can try formatting the SSD and then try the windows 7 installer. You can also right-click the drive's space in Disk Manager and make sure its marked as Active.

I didnt see any BIOS updates on the Gateway support site..

For Patriot SSD specific support you can also visit http://patriotmem.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2

Computaholic - do not post the same message more than once on these boards again. Cross posting is bad forum etiquette and against our forum rules. All of your other threads have been deleted. Thank you.

You may need to initialize and partition the drive in a different OS in advance. Try creating a single partition on the drive and see if that helps. Another forum member had a similar issue and after doing that the installer saw it and worked with it just fine.
