I have issues with my Hp pavillion dv6000ea ,i extended the ram by puting in 2gig ram on 1 slot and 512 on the other before i found out that i couldnt use more than 1 gb on each slot, the problem is my laptop wont power on,with a charged battery,i still cant get it to boot,i have restored it with 512mb on eachs lot, please advise me what to do? is my computer no good or crashed?

I FOUND THIS FROM CRUCIAL .COM

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

First try reseating your RAM boards - if they're off by even a little your system won't power up. Also, see if there are any LED's showing/blinking.

Second - Dv6000's are on HP's list for an Limited Extended Warranty due to a design / hardware fault that affects system power. However, it depends on your particular system's Product # as to whether or not it qualifies. The Product # (NOT the model or serial) is on the label under you system.

If your system qualifies and you can't get it to power up after reseating your RAM, then you need to contact HP per the Warranty Enhancement procedures. They'll Fedex you a box, you send it to them and they'll get it back to you within 2-3 business days. My friend sent his in on a Tuesday and had it back by Friday.

    Link to Dv6000 Product #'s affected - http://tinyurl.com/8ryqt5

Scroll down and you'll see the symptom list.

You just need to update your BIOS so it unlocks more RAM support.

If that doesnt work then the RAM might be bad.

Try taking out the battery pack and AC power

Hold the power button for 30 seconds and try starting up again using AC power only

okay, you need to discharge your system.
    1) unplug the main ac power
    2) unplug the battery
    3) unplug the memory
    4) unplug the bios battery if you can
    5) AFter letting the system discharge for a few hours, try powering the system up, without any memory installed.
    6) after powering up without memory, shut down, and install the memory and everything should be set back to normal.

Why don't you try a bootable/recovery disc to see if it will boot from it.
