I tried to put in a 1gb stick of Corsair ValueSelect VS1GSDS400 RAM in my Compaq V5000z that I just bought, and it wouldn't boot. Is there anything I can do to make it work. Thanks.

Hello and welcome.
Are you sure that you put it correctly? If so, probably its a bad RAM. Well, no doubt its correct type of ram.

Your notebook uses 333MHz Ram. Although that usually shouldn't be an issue since modules can downclock, at least one step.
Are you installing this module in addition to another that is already installed? If so try it alone. If that doesn't work try it in the second RAM slot.
RAM modules are tested and rarely do you get bad ones. So if the above fails, I'd recommend you try it in another notebook before concluding that it is faulty. -
I tried putting in the stick to replace the one that was already in there. I'll try today to put it in the other slot, but I had put it in the slot that the previous stick was in.

I want to ad 1 GBb of RAM,
Will DDR400 PC 3200 work?
Should I buy high density RAM or regular, to work in my sistem?
Thank you!
