hello im kinda confused about the digital vs analog wiring so i register to ask about this

I just bought some Alesis 520 audio monitors and the M-audio Transit USB audio interface, the Transit have a Digital Output and a headphone minijack output too, the thing is that while i was surfing around this forums looking for the ideal usb audio interface device, i notice that alot of ppl use digital output with the toslink or the SPDIF because of its higher quality than analog signals, this intrigues me alot so the thing is that i dont know anything about how i should connect my monitors to my transit via spdif/toslink, if i should buy a converter, what type of cable i should exactly get, or if this is posible at all with this type of monitors.. plz help
    PS
sorry for the bad grammer, english isnt my native language

The speakers are connected via something, right? If that doesn't have any digital outputs then you cannot use a digital signal for them. You'd need the speakers to be connected to something that can handle digital input.

Yes i know, but the m-audio transit is just an output source, as i said, the speakers needs to be connected to something that can handle digital input.

An amplifier with digital input is what i mean. All speakers are connected to some kind of amplifier, so what are yours connected to!?

How does the cables from the speakers look? Where do these cables go to at the moment? :)

    I'll say like this:
If you're happy with the sound like it is now, i don't see why you should change it :)

yeah im kinda happy with them but just want to check out if i could make them sound even better, the monitors are active monitors they have their own amps their Inputs are XLR and 1/4” supporting both balanced and unbalanced cabling. right now im using the analog 1/4'' directly connected to transit
