I have an MSI GT627 with an Nvidia 9800M GS graphics card. I've been running the Dox 185.68 drivers for some time with no problems. Recently I decided to install Nvidia's own drivers. I uninstalled the Dox driver, ran driver sweeper, and then tried to install the new drivers. However, the installation failed. So I tried to run system restore to restore my Dox drivers. The restore completed successfully, but the drivers were not restored. As of now, Speccy just lists the screen resolution where my graphics card used to be listed. I can't install either the Dox or Nvidia drivers. Both fail. And every time I reboot, I get a windows notification to reboot my computer to complete changes.

What sort of problem is going on here and how can I fix it? I'm fine using either driver now as long as I can get one to work properly.

    Thanks in advance..

Once you un install try something like a driver cleaner.

Will Driver Sweeper not be adequate?

I tend to find if you use manufacturer branded discs or image, official forceware drivers almost always fail. If you do a clean install with an OEM/Vanilla disc the chance for Nvidia is much higher, ATi is more picky.

You could try going into the registry and delete all Nvidia stuff (make sure you backup your registry first though!)

Sounds like your drivers had corrupted before you intended to uninstall it. Do you have the original driver disk that came with your machine? I would try to install that driver first and see if it works, if it does, then you may try to update the drivers to something better.
