    Hello,

My roommate took my laptop to Best Buy, to have Geeksquad replace my screen. I bought a new screen for them to put in, since the original one was just under the minimum number of dead pixels to have it replaced for free. They replaced the screen. My roommate then picked up my laptop and brought it home for me. I just got home, and I have to catch a plane on Wednesday (I'm leaving for a month). I turned on my laptop, and the screen looks grainy. Also, I now appear to only have 2GB of SDRAM, instead of 4GB. This is true, even looking at the memory count from BIOS.

I tried changing the color scheme, resolution, everything. Nothing makes it any better. It still works good enough to use. Just not good for my design work.

Is it possible the memory issue has anything to do with the way the screen looks? I want to take my laptop with me to CO, but I don't know if they'd still be willing to fix their mistake a month from now.

If you have any advice, I'd appreciate hearing it! Thanks for your help.

    Mike

When I say "grainy", I mean the gradients are all messed up. Like it's not really using 32-bit color, even though it says it is.

It also said "Your color scheme has been changed to Windows Vista Basic". I changed it back to Windows Aero. Didn't help.

Nothing would cause the RAM amount to change. Looks like GS took it.

It definitely sounds like Geek Squad got greedy and stole one of your memory cards.
As per the screen being grainy, is the replacement screen the same model as the screen it replaced?
If it is, than its likely that the panel you bought was defective or damaged during shipment/installation.
If the model number is different, than it could just not work properly with your laptop.

I would report a claim against best buy for stealing your memory.
You should be able to pull your invoice from Toshiba's website and prove that your system came with 4gb of memory, and that they stole one of your memory cards.
