i have this western digital harddrive
"WD 3TB My Book Desktop External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 - WDBFJK0030HBK-NESN"
iv had it for the past 3 years and recently when i tried to reset it, it didnt work. I spoke to the tech of western digital and it still wouldn't work. what should i do to reset my harddrive to 'as new' settings?
so i was able to reformat it but for some reason it is VERY slow. is their anyway i can speed it up? its not near what it used to be. im transfering speeds at like 300kb/s.

Has it got itself stuck in USB 2.0 mode? Did you try a different USB port and a different computer?
If Device Manager shows no clues (check that the drive's policy is set to Best Performance) then the next step would be to take the drive out of the enclosure. If you are lucky then the drive itself has an SATA interface with a SATA-USB adapter, in which case you can test the drive in a desktop computer or by using a different adapter.
