hav recently bought
nVidia GeForce 9600M GT 512MB MXM2
nVidia GeForce 9600M GT 512MB MXM2 MXM II NEW from USA | eBay
for my acer 6930 (original gpu was 9300m gs)
unfortunatly didn't come with any screws so i cant' hold it in place anyway a computer savvy friend of mine installed the driver and switched it over to quickly test if it would work, unfortunatly this didn't work and the computer booted with a black screen. he says that most likely its not connecting due to lack of screws.
could anyone offer an plausible explanation, tell me if its compatible or where on earth i could find the screws as i've had no luck.
thanks

You generally reuse the screws from the old GPU to install the new GPU with. What happened to those?
A slot is a slot, if the GPU slides in, it's connected. . . The screws apply pressure on the heatsink to make contact with the GPU die.
I've used mini pci-e cards unscrewed and they sat on a 30* angle in and they worked fine. -
In one laptop I had, the clips for the ram were completely broken off. I just stuck the memory in at an angle, and it worked.

I would get a mod to move this to the Acer subforum. There are several users who have done the upgrade and I'm sure this would get more (and first-hand) responses to your inquiry. Another suggestion would be to get some pictures up.
