I don't entirely know how to word my problem, so I'll spell it out with a list of details:
My laptop has a native resolution of 1366x768 @60hz.
My TV has a native resolution of 1920x1080p HD.
I want to connect my laptop to the TV, using the TV's greater resolution for more convenience.
When I set the TV to 1366x768 resolution (The recommended resolution when connected to HDMI), it says a message at the top: "HDMI 2 - 1366@60hz". Text is crisp and clear in this setting.
When I set the TV to *any* other resolution (even smaller than 1366x768), it says a message at the top: "HDMI 2 - 1080p HD". Text is blurry and bothersome to read.
I feel like the problem would be fixed if I could get the TV to stop converting to this "1080p HD" setting every time I try to use a resolution other than the recommended setting, say "1920x1080 @60hz" (This would be ideal).
So how can I fix this text blur at a higher resolution?

Go into the TV settings and disable/adjust the sharpening of the image. Disable/adjust the auto config resolution (and other) options. Disable/adjust the over/under scanning of the input signal.

Go into your notebook and set it to show only on the TV (and not on the notebook's internal monitor).

In your notebook, disable clear type (or even try to adjust it) while using the TV screen.

In the notebook, go into display properties (Intel, NVidia or AMD graphics...) and see if any settings help there too (over/under scanning especially).

Hope some of these ideas help.

    Good luck.
