    Problems with upgrading firmware on Samsung SSD 128 GB

    Hello
    I was trying to update firmware on my ssd samsung but unsuccesfully
    I created usb boot downloaded win 98 boot manager
    I got in to samsung software and it asked me :
    1.download firmware ? I pressed y
    2.then asked have u backup your data ? continue ? and from this point i couldnt press anything it just freeze ..
    anybody know solution ?

    Wow, so it's totally unresponsive? I hope you didn't brick the SSD somehow.

    no
    it even didnt started
    it freeze before i hit y key for the start upgrading so i unpluged whole laptop from power lead
    went back to notmal boot to win and tried to change files in usb key
    then do it back external boot priority enable ect .. nothing
    I cant NORMALLY update bloody ssd

    What firmware is currently on the SSD? if it isn't either VBM1801 or VBM18C1Q then that updater isn't going to work. Is it a Dell SSD?

    No its not dell its samsung ssd it cannot be dell
    my ssd is :

    as u can see there is same firmware version on guide like mine before upgrade

    first pic dunno if i need desktop laptop is probably incompatible
    or may be i have wrong win 98 boot manager? but i booted and i succesfully entered to samsung program
    dont know if i need ntfs or fat usb key

    as u can se on third pic there is : download firmware on disk ? I was able to hit y letter
    but there is warning : u must backup data bla bla and then when i want hit y it freeze

    Yes, you can and should update that VBM1801Q firmware because it doesn't even have garbage collection. The VBM19C1Q that you will update has GC and TRIM. I had trouble updating mine from VBM18C1Q to VBM19C1Q. I took out all other drives except the SSD and had to switch it to port 0.

    That is strange that the updater is recognizing your drive and fw and is freezing. Your computers BIOS must be putting a freeze lock on it or something.

    they saying even this : the program may hung but am usin ICH 9
    that i should use desktop not laptop
