I am considering purchasing an SSD for my 6570b.
Currently, I have a Crucial C300 128GB that I use in my desktop machine, but I could really use a bigger one.
I have been considering upgrading to a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB and using the C300 128GB in the 6570b, but in this case, I won't be able to use the HDD as well as the C300 will use the only available SATA slot, unless I want to install an HDD caddy and remove the optical drive.
Alternatively, I could buy a Crucial m4 128GB mSATA disk and use that in the 6570b along with the 500GB HDD already present. The 128GB m4 is a little less bang for buck than the 840 EVO 250GB, though, and that way I won't get my desktop upgraded.
I actually have very low storage requirements on the 6570b, so I'm thinking that 128GB will be enough. Especially if I skip using the ~20GB recovery partition that HP creates by default (I could just store an image of it somewhere).
Also, the C300 should be compatible with the 6570b, correct? I had a look at Crucial's website, but I couldn't find anything other than stated M500 compatibility.
Hmm, decisions! Anything I'm missing? Any other options I should think about?

SATA is SATA is SATA. It'll work in your laptop, your desktop, your friends' computers, etc.
The 840 EVO uses TLC NAND whereas the C300 and m4 (and others like the Samsung 840 Pro and more) use MLC NAND, which is much more durable than TLC (theoretical life span of ~100 years, vs 7-10 years for TLC). Probably a moot point since you'll likely replace your laptop by then, but it's still worth mentioning. -
Yeah, I was aware of the TLC vs. MLC difference, but it's always good to make sure. You are correct that there's no way I'm going to be wearing out the disk before I will eventually replace it, short of an unexpected failure.
Cheers for the reply!
