Yes in many situations you can, there are limitations so need to know what you have CPU and MoBo would be nice, and what are you looking at.

If you're talking about the notebook in your sig, yes, you can. There's not much point, though.

I dont quite know the history behind upgrading laptops.....desktops is another thing you can find out the actual mainboard specs, but with laptops Im not sure where you can get that information to know what the max/min values are for that certain model; Hopefully they will move more towards that in the future
