So what would you give you the most performance in years 1-2 and in years 3-5.

    Intel® Core™ Proc Duo T2400 (1.83GHz/667MHz/2 X 1MB L2 Cache)
    Or
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7200 (4MB Cache/2.00GHz/667MHz FSB)

what do you mean? Years 1-2, 3-5?
The fastest of the two systems will still be faster 20 years from now.

Like will there be a bigger difference in years 1-2 or years 3-5. Sorry I wasn't clear enough.

The T7200 will still last you longer, period. It will ALWAYS be faster than the T2400. More cache also helps a lot.

What I'd guess you're trying to get at is you're wondering if a T2400 will still feel fast in 3-5 years, or will you need at minimum a T7200 to function? If you want to keep a machine for 3-5 years, get the fastest you can afford now. The T7200 will have a longer serviceable life than the T2400.

No matter how fast CPU would go, MS Vista will bite the speed down. It will no faster than XP, so it require much processing power, GPU power, Memory, Highspeed HD, and so on.

Would we follow Gate's step? or we can dump it.

Read from report, Senta Rosa will use Socket P and not support Yonah. This means today's Socket M C D and C 2 D system will not upgrade to newer system. Just like AMD shift from 754 to AM1.
