Uh, you lost me.
Yes, this is already going on as Intel has slowed down their schedule and prolonged the lifespan of its product lines.

hmm yeah, if AMD went out of buisness then......that would suck...INtel woud'nt make better cpu's.
Also trottel i meant to say that, thats an interesting methodology of doing it. The HT is nothing like super scalar products, but they emulate a super scalar product. Like HT allows applications and operations to run in different instances while the cpu still is doing serial processing...So they didn't have to spend to much on manufacturing it
-
Bottomline , performance= intel... and price for performance= AMD... I really doubt AMD will go out of buisness now as ATI is doing so well that they are becomming profitable..
-
ATI is killing it
-
This is only true if you consider gaming and only gaming performance. Even this might not last very long.
-
really? So wait the Nvidia GPU can do more FLOPS? Like its better for parallel computation? But don't nvidia now have directX 11 cards?

H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Fermi cards aren't in shipping Notebooks YET. Though they will be soon, with ASUS working on it right now. And yes, Fermi is oriented more towards GPGPU than Broadway-XT. And yes, Fermi is DX11. -
Awesome
That's gonna be sick
....though some say to get a netbook and a desktop...so i might get a fermi desktop XD
Are fermi card worth the few 100 bucks ? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
It depends on what is going to be done with the card. Fermi will always be better than anything ATI for GPGPU, unless AMD/ATI can get their drivers in order. Only thing is, I don't think that's ATI's aim. Nvidia has made HUGE investments in GPGPU with their Tesla racks and recent driver updates. If you plan on using it to just game, the ATI will probably be better, but for General Purpose, Nvidia will be better, notebook or desktop.
-
say if i want to do both?
-
Then get the Nvidia which has better GPGPU support.
-
yes man NICE
