I am poised to buy a Sager NP8170 (built by Clevo P170Hm) from xoticpc.com, and I had one simple question about its processor. I am looking at the cheapest one: a 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM, 2.2-3.1GHz, (32nm, 6MB L3 cache). I was wondering if it will still be a relevant processor down the road or if I should consider upgrading so the computer would last me longer. Considering I am using this primarily as a gaming laptop, it is very important to have a decent processor. Here are the rest of the specs on the laptop:

    Sager NP8170 / Clevo P170HM -- $1,400.68

Display: 17.3" FHD 16:9 "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Glossy Screen (1920x1080)

    GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 6990M 2048MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11

    CPU: 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM, 2.2-3.1GHz, (32nm, 6MB L3 cache)

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Installed (64&32-Bit CD Included) w/ Drivers & Utilities CD's + Microsoft Office Starter 2010 - Included with OS Purchase

    RAM: 8GB - DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (4 SODIMMS)

    Storage: 500GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 16MB Cache)

i wouldn't stress about it...cpus are plentiful and cheap on ebay. You can upgrade to an extreme proc if you really need it after the fact.

To put things into perspective, i bought my laptop with a 2630qm, and it is more than enough for any game out there...however, i bought teh 2820qs from Shirley's (ebay) for $270 shipped, then i sold my 2630qm for $290. So i actually made money on the upgrade lol
