For futureproofing a Laptop which do you think would be a better choice?

    Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo T2400 (1.83 GHz/2MB L2Cache)

    OR

    Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T5500(1.66GHz/2MB L2Cache)

I'm assuming the Core 2 Duo because of 64-bit support?

Now my next big question in gaming, will I notice a big performance drop since I'm going from a 1.83 GHz processor to a 1.66 GHz processor?

    Thanks

For futureproofing, the Core 2 Duo. You won't notice much at all as the Core 2 is a newer and slightly faster cpu in the first place so their performance will be very similar.

Alright thanks very much I appreciate the quick response.

The reason why it was urgent is I just exchanged my old dv8000t Laptop for a new dv9000t and needed to make sure the replacement model wouldn't be a step down fromt he broken one.

    Thanks again =)

The C2D duo is about on average 10% faster and an equivalently clocked CD. Therefore a C2D 1.66 works out to about a CD 1.8.
