OK I am going to have to start guessing here. I know they were at least made with both the Core Duo and Core 2 Duo. You say yours is Core 2 Duo, Merom socket M I am guessing. Which Model CPU? You can go as high as T7600 2.333Ghz. Problem they can cost a lot. T7600 2.33Ghz at NewEgg $645.99, link. T7400 2.16Ghz $329.99, link.

It looks like a T5600 Merom 1.86ghz. You might want to check up on that to make sure.

If this is true your options are:

    T7200 2.0ghz 4mb cache
    T7400 2.16ghz 4mb cache
    T7600 2.33ghz 4mb cache

Your best bet would be to go with the T7200 because price rise exponentially after the T7200.

Honestly, you'd be better off sticking another gig (or two) of ram in your computer, then spend hundreds of dollars on a new processor. Your video card is the bottleneck, not the cpu.

The E1505 can only use 2gb of memory max, only one member stated he has 4gb in his, but when I tried the same configuration and Bios, it doesnt boot. 2Gb is the max supported memory of the system.
    You can upgrade your 5600 or so to a T7200, T7400, T7600.
I have a T5300 in my E1505 and quite frankly one doesnt need more.
If your system is slow, type MSCONFIG into the run command and shut off background processes, services and applications. That will free up cpu and harddrive cycles, making the system faster and more responsive.
