Well, I'm absolutely new to this but here goes nothing:
I recently received a Gateway T-6321 notebook and I tried to play some games on it but my processor (as I've been told) is not good enough to provide smooth gameplay. It is an Intel Pentium Dual-Core Mobile Processor T2370 1 MB L2 Cache, 1.73 GHz, 533 MHz FSB. If somebody could help me decode that jumble of abbreviations, that would be much appreciated.
Would I be able to upgrade my processor to allow for better gameplay or is that not even the problem?
Also, if it that is the problem, how would I go about replacing it? Instruction or a link to instruction would be warmly welcomed.
Thank you!

Although that isnt the best CPU, most games are more reliant on the GPU than CPU.
Whats your Graphics card and what games are you talking about? -
The T-6321 has an i965GM, with a Socket P....!! and the X3100
If you want to, you could upgrade to the socket P Meroms (T5xxx and T7xxx) or the Penryns (T8xxx or T9xxx)....depending upon if your BIOS supports it or not..!!
The current T2370 is a socket P CPU....!! and upgrading CPUs will mostly help with CPU-intensive tasks....but in your case generally everything - battery life, overall performance in games and applications....!!
Would advise you to try out the T8300 or the T7300....!! +apply AS-5 -
I believe his laptop has the X3100 IGP which means your gaming problem is your graphics not your processor. Unfortunately there is no way to upgrade this.

Your laptop does use the socket P platform processors, so you can use T7100, 7300, 7500, 7700, 8100, 8300, 9300 and so forth. "Commander Wolf" on the boards here has a whole list and guide on socket P processors
Your gaming experience will be hindered even by upgrading the processor. Games are generally always limited by the graphics card. Your laptop has a graphics card which is built into the motherboard (integrated). The graphics card in your notebook is not upgradeable, so your gaming experience is not going to get much better by upgrading the processor.
If the laptop is still within 30 days of purchase, you can get your moneys back and get a laptop with a dedicated graphics card which can play games.
