Ok, I have a Toshiba Sattelite M35X-S349, which currently has a Pentium M 735 (1.70 gHz). I'm considering doing an all-around upgrade, but as far as the processor is concerned, I'm lost. Can anybody help me out as to what processors are compatible with this setup?

You can atmost upgrade to another 400MHz FSB Pentium M since it is based off the older 855 chipset which does not support 533MHz FSB P-M's.
A Pentium M 765 is the fastest model sold with the 400MHz bus.
Upgrading the RAM or Hard drive might yield better than spending on higher grade P-M. -
The RAM upgrade almost goes without saying. I already have 2 1gb sticks on the way. Thanks for the info about the cpu, though! You wouldn't happen to know how the 765 stacks up against the 735 in terms of power usage and heat?
-
The power and heat should be quite similar since the thermal guidelines for the Dothan P400MHz P-Ms are 21W. So, theoretically there shouldnt be any extra heat issues if the cpu is installed properly.
Performance difference is hard to quantify, but depending on your uses it can be a bit faster. From the review here( http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=dothandesktop&page=8), they tested a P-M 755(2Ghz) along with the 735, the difference in the benchmarks is clear to see, but if all you are going to do is just surf the web and use word and occasional photoshop, then the there wont be much of a difference felt. -
Yeah, I think I'll just wait until the RAM gets in, and see if I get what I need in terms of performance. No need to spend 400-or-so dollars if it's unnecesary.
