I was about to buy an HP HDX, and someone mentioned to me I should just buy the Processor, and RAM seperately, and upgrade myself - IF HP charges more. But the thing is when I'm at http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cto.do customizing my HP - it doesn't tell me exactly how much the first processor chosen is. All it says is "included in price" - and the next up only would say +220 or something - so I never have an exact amount.
And, since they will force me to purchase at least the first processor and ram ammount, I will have to be stuck with those even if I purchase something else.
What should I do? Thanks

I agree with the suggestion about RAM, buy as little as you can and upgrade on your own. As to replacing the CPU yourself I generally disagree, I do so because likely the upgrade on your own will cost in the same ballpark as upgrading through them. Also it will void the warranty, it is the brains of your computer and not worth the risks. Warranty when you first buy is very important, 2 years down the road not so much.

100% agree...
Processor, and RAM question.
