As of right now, I am using vmware server with Xp as a guest virtualized os on Ubuntu. I was wondering if I would gain any performance by having a VT (virtualization)-enabled processor? I wasn thinking about getting the T5600 if any performance would be gain. I do not need the T7200 for my needs even though the 4 mb cache would be nice.

Resource wise with the T5500 (VT-disable version)
XP Virtual w/ samba sharing folder active :

    Ubuntu:
Mozilla, terminal, rythmbox, vmware server, and tomboy notes.
    15% RAM (1 GB for XP)/ 81% cache/ below 70-50% processor (both core).
