Ok, as far as i saw, this is a continuous source of doubt for many new users, as me.
I am collecting infos, but still have got douts, as I can't see in any shop now a matte screen to see it sid by side with a glossy, and decide.
I thought that, aparte for me, it would have been great to have a thread just for this, so that any user in the future with a simple search by title can have a rapid point of reference, so I bag all expert users to post here their experience.
it will be usefuel for me ;)
    and for anybody :D
In sintesis the question could be: putting two notebook, same model, same screen with same resolution, same all, but one matte and one glossy, what difference should one notice, and in which circumstancies? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each kind of display in favorable light (so we eliminate the most obvious argument, that glossy are reflective in not favorable light)?
    You all are invited!
EDIT: it can be a good idea if you post also the model of notebook you are talking about, so that there can be a record for future searches...

With glossy, the colors appear sharper/brighter.

You're spelling is kinda bad lol.

Matte is easier on the eyes and has significantly less glare when you are in a well lit room than glossy screens.

Well, then you are PERFECT for this poll! Please, tell us the differences you notice! Nobody dubt that both are good, but, which advantages and disadvantages could you notice in each?

Schoolar english of Sicily. Sorry. Anyway, yes, my Dell Agbent also told me that they in the office all prefer matte, as it tires less their eyes. Interesting. Other side, someone could say that for those who spend less time in front of a pc, the glossy offer more. I do not know, I am supposing.

I remember the same. Of the old matte I have in front of me know I notice that the general impression is of a sharper LCD respect to the newer glossy LG one I used before, which was somewhat darker.

I prefer matte but glossy is more and more common, lucky for me the glossy screen on my asus is not super glossy like say a sony, its a hybrid where it enhances the feel of contrast and vibrance alot but doesn't turn your screen into a mirror.

Yes, I am reading a lot about that, hybrid displays. Matte which are a bit glossy, glossy which are a bit matte...
In my personal doubts between Dell Latitude D830 (matte) and Precision M4300 (glossy) I still am unable to understand if the matte is too matte (bad colors and contrast) or the glossy too glossy (use it to shave at the morning)... I think each of you (and me when I will get the notebook) should post also the model of notebook you are talking about, so people who need a reference point can have it easily...

I prefer matte. I've never owned a laptop with a glossy screen.

I've got a glossy LCD attached to my desktop. When the ambient light is low it's relatively nice to look at; everything a bit "shinier" than with a matte screen. But when I crank up the lighting I start seeing reflections of my room in the screen and it can get annoying.

It's alright since I can generally control the lighting in my room, but on a laptop outdoors or something I can imagine it'd be pretty bad.

Good matte > Glossy > Bad matte

Most mattes these days seem to be worse than the pre-glossy mattes, manufacturers just aren't making the effort on mattes these days.

funny because glossy screens were always easier on the eyes than matte, especially the ones w/ sparkle effect.

so where does this leave Good glossy?
