I actually just ordered a Crucial m4 128gb of amazon (I have a gift card for $50), but I can cancel in the next day or so if need be...main question is, is it worth dropping $170 on an SSD, should I keep the order or cancel?

Depends - if you like your system to have snap and you multitask then yes. If you want your system to respond to you and dislike waiting for the spinning circle while executing actions - then yes. If opening apps instantly is something you like then yes. If protecting your data from bumps, falls and avoiding hard disk failure is good, then yes.
Really up to you, but once you go SSD, you have a hard time returning to a HDD -
For SATA II and SATA III, performance increases considerably compared to the results below.

I have to agree that at that price and for your configuration (dual drive bays, right?) that you have made a very good purchase.
Just make sure to apply (only!) the fix/workaround here for your M4:

..., do a clean Windows 7 x64 install and no other tweaks and you should be enjoying your new system for a long time.
One other thing you might try is moving the users folder with the following method (I am using it myself and still testing it is working properly...) - it will put all your data on your 500GB 'D:' drive and keep the SSD free to really speed up your system now and indefinitely too.

Good luck. -

Pull the trigger on an SSD?
